What makes engagement rings be an antique style?

Well virtually any engagement ring that is more that 100 years old can be classed as having antique style. Some retailers will also classify newer rings that are based on old designs as antique style as well.

However, if you choose an antique engagement ring, then you need to inspect it very carefully. Check that the band has not been worn very thin, as this will make it unsuitable for everyday wear, and as we all know, an engagement ring is meant to be worn every day!

If you have an antique style engagement ring, then it may be that it has a special place in your family history. Maybe it has been handed down over the generations, and you are desperate for your bride to be to join those generations who have worn this ring before them. If this is the case, even if it the band is worn very thin, you have can the stones and setting joined into another band.

Antique style engagement rings from the art deco period used strong geometric lines with stone colors that provided contrast. These made the rings more interesting and individual to many people. They were made until around the 1950’s, and are often considered vintage rather than antique.

By choosing an antique style diamond engagement ring, the bride to be is sure to acquire a ring that no other woman will have. It is a way of having a ring that can express her individuality. Whether she chooses to have the ring reset into another band that has only been worn by her, or stays with the original, this type of ring is sure to get her attention!
