Then perhaps the pendant can be used as a charm. Alternately, for very inexpensive jewelry, you may be able to use parts in key chains, kitchen magnets or even attached to zippers on coats or purses.

Sometimes, a jeweler will let you trade up a stone. For example, many jewelers will allow you to “trade in” a smaller diamond when buying a larger diamond. Though not all jewelers will do this, it is worth asking.
