Picking a Jewelry Gift

When buying a jewelry gift, there are many different factors to consider. When buying jewelry, if you take these factors in consideration, the person will most likely enjoy your gift even more. Here are many jewelry gift tips:

Jewelry Gift Tips By Type

* Earrings

For people with longer necks, dangle earrings or large hoops look great; for people with shorter necks, smaller hoops or studs are wonderful. If you don’t know, earring studs are classic and can be worn by anyone. Our favorite is diamond heart stud earrings for someone special.

* Necklaces

Generally, older woman enjoy longer necklaces; younger woman wear necklaces of all lengths. Smaller woman tend to wear thinner necklaces; larger ladies often enjoy thinker necklaces. If picking a necklace for someone you haven’t seen for a long time, choose a necklace somewhere between 18″ and 24″ (inclusive).

* Bracelets

Thin bangles can be a winner with anyone – if there are many of them. People with larger wrists will wear several while smaller wrists will wear 1 or 2. People with larger wrists will appreciate wide bracelet cuffs which are very popular.

* Rings

To get a ring that looks best on one’s fingers, choose a thin band for shorter fingers and a wider band for longer fingers. An oval stone will often make fingers seem longer as well.

General Jewelry Buying Gift Ideas:

* Quality

When two pieces of jewelry are approximately the same price, buying the one with high quality materials will generally last longer and keep its value more. Make note if there is sterling silver, karat gold or real gemstones. Quality workmanship is harder to tell online but makes a difference as well.

* Color

When possible see if the person has a preference of gold-tone or silver-tone jewelry. Most people tend to wear more of one type than the other. Silver-tone can be platinum, white gold, silver or other metals.

* Allergies

If the person has a nickel allergy, get nickel-free jewelry when possible. This is especially important for earrings. See: Allergy-Free Earrings for more information.

Whichever piece of jewelry you choose, it will be a gift that will be enjoyed for years to come.
