When people read about famous diamonds, such as the Hope diamond, they often wonder if large blue diamonds are being mined today. If so, where does one learn about them and how does one even get to see them?

The largest diamonds are often found on on the Idex Diamond exchange, an international wholesale professional only diamond exchange. This is where diamond professionals often learn about diamonds and diamond pricing.

They announced today that a rare 39.19 carat blue diamond was mined from Petra Diamonds’ historic Cullinan mine in South Africa.

It is nice to know that large diamonds and gemstones are still being found, it is not a thing of the past. It is simply that they are indeed rare, so that they are seen very often.

Yet, as there are more blue diamonds being mined, maybe your dream of a blue diamond engagement ring is closer to reality than you thought.
