Ring Styles to Enjoy!

The ring as a body ornament or jewelry has been part of human culture since a long time ago. Now, we know that rings are most commonly given out during engagement or wedding of a couple as a sign of unity between the two. However, its purpose does not necessarily end there. The ring is a very versatile piece of jewelry actually, as it could be worn anywhere—in formal occasions or even casually. It all depends on the ring styles and trends that you prefer and follow.

In this article, you would be able to learn about the various ring styles and trends that would make you in the know in the world of jewelry-making.

Common Diamond Ring Styles

* Solitaire Ring
This is the most common type of ring used in marriage proposals. It is a single band with one large gemstone in the center, commonly a diamond. Before the 1880’s only small gemstones of lower quality were produced. Now, this type of ring really becomes a popular one because it highlights the sole stone on the jewelry and this looks very impressive for the person wearing the ring.

* Eternity Ring
This ring consists of several small stones having the same type, color, and cut, encircling the whole band. This is common as wedding rings for those who would want to splurge on the stones, as it symbolizes the longevity of the relationship of the couple. The popularity of this type started in the 1980’s as more diamonds were discovered. You often get more total carat weight of stones for a lower price because there are many stones and the stones are smaller.

* Cluster Ring
This is a ring which consists of a group of stones arranged in a cluster in the middle. Commonly, there is one large stone in the middle, and then several stones of the same cut encircling the big one. This is popular for those who would just like to wear rings on formal occasions because it looks regal and opulent.

Favorite Wedding Band Styles

* Flat Band
Another wedding favorite, the flat band is as simple as it can be. Taken from the name, it is just a flat band made out of platinum, silver, or gold. As a wedding ring, usually it is engraved on the inside with messages made for and by the couple which are significant for them, as a symbol of their marriages. On other occasions, the name of the owner is engraved on the inside.

* Half-round Ring
As opposed with the flat band, this ring is D-shaped, with the inside being flat and the outer side filled such that it is protruding. These are very popular as wedding bands as they are very comfortable as well as beautiful. As they as flat inside they don’t feel as “bulky” as some rings do. As such, this type of ring often has “comfort-fit” in the ring description. Some people get this type of ring engraved on the inside to make it more personal.

* Dome Ring
As implied by the name, this ring is hollow. It somewhat resembles a filled half-round ring but, as mentioned, it does not make use of more metal. Instead it is molded with the center being empty. This is done this way such that it is not very much heavy and it is not too expensive.

Fashion Ring Styles With Flair

* Sleeve Ring
This ring has a more complicated take on the band itself. It includes an inner ring called sleeve, piled up with some other rings materializing into one whole solid ring. This is perfect for those who would like to veer away from the traditional type.

* Adjustable

Having an adjustable ring is a somewhat new style as usually rings are set sizes. Adjustable rings allow for slight variations in size (not too much!) and as such can fit better. Often these are for bigger rings to allow for more comfort while wearing a larger band and/or stone. They are more for trendy fashion rings rather than finer jewelry. THat said, often the styles available are fun for everyday wear.

* Built-Up Ring
This type is also commonly bought my many fashion enthusiasts. It is a band which is thin on all other sides of the band but protruding just on the middle top. Usually, rings with stones have bands that are of this type.

* Stackable Rings

A favorite among many, stackable rings allow more flexibility and colors. Though the eternity band is often considered a stackable ring, many use this for fashion rings as well. You can have many types of stones and mix and match as desired. Though usually people wear 3 rings, you could wear 2 rings one day and 4 the next; alternately you can mix and match with various styles of stackable rings to create your own style.

Ring Trends

Now that you have familiarized yourself to the various kinds of rings, the question as to what the latest ring trends are all depends on you. It’s your call whatever type you prefer just as long as it is made of genuine precious metal and stones, you won’t go wrong. Also, be particular about the stone of your ring as it is the focus of your ornament.
