The November birthstone is the yellow colored quartz gem called Citrine. Its name came from the French word “citrin” which means lemon and is one of the rarest types of gem quartz. Its color ranges from a very pale yellow to a very dark amber named Madeira—a shade as deep as the color of its liquid namesake.
Citrine projects a sunshiny comfort to its beholder and is said to possess magical powers that can heal its wearer from certain organ diseases particularly those associated with liver and stone. It is also previously used as a talisman against evil and snake bites. Studies have seen that citrine sometimes comes from Amethyst or have started as one but an increased level of temperature can change its color to warm yellow. Because of this, citrine is also sometimes subjected to intense heat in order to deepen and alter its color properties. But if the wearer does not intend to achieve this, he or she should be careful and must not expose Citrine to high temperatures. (Many have accidentally damaged their citrine by storing it on a window sill or car dashboard.)
Citrine is said to symbolize cheerfulness, youth, hope and strength because of its sunny bright color. It is also one of the most abundant mineral products found in Brazil, but it can also be found in some parts of Bolivia and Madagascar.
An alternative November birthstone is the yellow topaz. This stone has a rich color range which starts from a peachy blush to a deep cognac shade. This stone is said to symbolize friendship and can strengthen one’s capacity concerning love. This stone is commonly found in Africa, Australia, Brazil, China, Japan, Mexico, Myanmar, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Russia and the United States of America.
