When one thinks of diamonds and diamond shapes, they often think of a round diamond (a brilliant cut) or a square diamonds (a princess cut). However, there are many cuts of diamonds out there. Here are the cuts available for diamond jewelry:

Round Cuts

  • Brilliant – this is the perfectly round diamond
  • Oval – As expected, this is elongated. It often looks better on longer fingers when placed in a diamond ring
  • Pear – This is round on one side and pointed on the other
  • Marquise – this is an oval with 2 pointed ends rather than one like a pear

Square Cuts

  • Princess – this is usually the cut one thinks of first when thinking of a square cut.
  • Emerald – this is a rectangular shape
  • Radiant – this cut has the corners trimmed so it is an eight sided diamond
  • Asscher – it similar to a Radiant cut but with more facets

Heart

  • Heart – this is a favorite as it symbolizes love

There are more – but these are the most popular. So enjoy choosing. This will be one of the most important jewelry choices in your life.
