When one is fortunate enough to proposed to in marriage, it is good to know where to wear the engagement ring. You wonder which finger do you put the engagement ring on?
The simple answer is: the 3rd finger on the left hand starting from but not including the thumb. In the United States, generally, the engagement ring is worn on the right hand until marriage. After the wedding, the ring is moved from the right hand to the left hand.
Engagement Ring History
Rings were initially worn on the ring finger because it was believed that it is directly connected to the heart. Though ones who study meridians will notice that this finger actually matches the triple warmer meridian, the tradition still holds. (The middle finger is actually on the heart meridian) That said, the idea and symbolism of the ring being for “love forever” is a wonderful way to view the exchanging of rings.

The left hand ring finger is normally the preferred finger, but I do know that in some nationalities like the Greeks they usually wear their engagement and wedding rings on their right hand. Interesting read and information, its great to have a blog like this that is light yet full of all the information that one needs.
This has always been a huge debate I have to agree mostly with the above comment. What they have said is quite true.
Now this is a controversial topic, as in normal cases the ring is in fact worn on the left hand finger closest to the pinky, but there are people that wear it on the right hand, there are even some cultures that wear it on the middle finger. Nice post I am enjoying coming here for interesting facts just like these.
